Postgraduate Thesis Scholarship
The CIIPEC will grant three annual Master’s or Doctorate degree thesis scholarships. The topic addressed should be within the field of cardiovascular diseases, and the study must be implemented in the South of Mexico, Central America and/or the Dominican Republic.
Thesis topics must be politically relevant in the field of cardiovascular diseases, where clinical and epidemiological projects may be included, as well as projects on health services, public policies, cost-effectiveness, behavior, and method and technology transfer.
The aggregate amount to be requested should not exceed US$2,500. The thesis may be not yet started, under development, or already concluded; so the funds may be requested for field work, laboratory analysis, and/or statistical analysis of the research.
CIIPEC along with University of Michigan (UM) through the Project: Training in Multilevel and Lifecycle Approaches for the Prevention of Non-communicable Diseases in Latin America will provide funds for two Latin American students to pursue a doctoral degree in NCD related areas at UM, starting on September 2013.
The purpose of this program is to provide opportunities for students from abroad to visit CIIPEC and contribute to the program, obtain experiences and skills relate to the NCD research.
Additionally, through the training program from the University of Michigan various opportunities will be available for trainees who are conducting NCD research at their countries to carry out summer fellowships of three to six months, during this period of time they will be assigned a mentor from UM to follow up the research project
